1984
Architect Miguel Quintana Pali acquires a 5-hectare plot of land in Riviera Maya, and finds that it contains spectacular cenotes and beautiful underground rivers. This is when the idea was born to share this beauty with the world. In collaboration with Oscar, Marcos and Carlos Constandse, the Xcaret project began.
1990
Xcaret opens its doors in December of this year, showing the world Mexico’s natural and cultural beauty in all its splendor.
1994
The state of Quintana Roo gives Xcaret permission to operate the natural wonder of Xel-Há, a tourist attraction dedicated to preserving the natural attributes of the site.
2009
When the world was going through difficult times, the group refused to stop developing, working arduously to open the doors of a new type of adventure called Xplor, the most visited zip-line park in the world.
2010
The project begins to introduce the world to the Great Yucatan Peninsula, with the most complete and best guided tours in the archaeological zones of Chichén Itzá, Tulum and Cobá.
2013
Night begins to take on life with the opening of Xplor Fuego, the unlimited nighttime adventure, and Xoximilco, a tribute to Mexican culture and its traditional Mexican trajineras in the center of the country. We also begin to operate Xenotes tour, taking visitors to discover the four types of existing cenotes in a tour full of fun activities.
